DESK leverages the Snapshot voting platform to allow users to stake their DESK to cast their votes. Just connect your DESK wallet to Snapshot and you’ll be ready to go.
- Who can vote?
- To take part in a poll, you must have a crypto wallet holding the DESK token. In CoinDesk's space on the Snapshot voting platform, users who hold 1 DESK in a wallet can vote. No matter how much DESK users hold in their wallet, as of 6 PM ET 12/08, DESK holders get one vote per proposal – making DESK voting more egalitarian and less manipulatable by bad actors.
- How can I get DESK in order to vote?
- You can start earning DESK the minute you create an account on coindesk.com. After verifying your email, you’ll answer some quick questions to help us get to know you and your interests.
- A key way to earn DESK is by engaging with Consensus Magazine content. Earn DESK by reading the cover story, listening to an episode of “Carpe Consensus,” watching select CDTV episodes and more.
- You can also earn DESK by visiting the DESK Hub, your go-to spot for all things DESK. There, you’ll have a new opportunity to claim DESK every day. A seven-day claim streak earns you a bonus!
- How do I vote?
- You can vote in any currently open polls on Snapshot by linking your DESK wallet to the website.
- Here’s how to get set up to vote:
- 1. Hold DESK in your crypto wallet (not on Discord or CoinDesk.com) when the poll is announced, before it goes live.
- 2. Visit our Snapshot page.
- 3. Join the DESK space.
- 4. Connect your wallet that holds DESK.
- 5. Find the proposal you’d like to vote on.
- 6. Open the proposal and click on your desired option to cast your vote.
- How does it work?
- The most recent block sync from Snapshot's node is pre-populated in the "snapshot block number" field when a proposal goes live. After that, the proposal will appear in Discord for your perusal.
- I transferred my DESK from Discord. Why can't I vote?
- As long as your wallet held DESK prior to the proposal, you can vote.
Note that any DESK transferred to a connected wallet after a poll goes live will not be considered valid toward a proposal.
- Why can't I vote? I have DESK in my wallet.
- When the block forms, you must hold a sufficient amount of DESK.
If you try to vote on a proposal where the block number is configured before you hold DESK in your wallet (not on Discord or CoinDesk.com), your vote will not be counted.
